Purpose of the Community Sponsorship Program

Halve Waste is a waste reduction campaign that is an initiative of AlburyCity Council, City of Wodonga and the Shires of Indigo, Federation, Greater Hume and Towong. Launched at Albury Waste Management Centre (AWMC) in June 2010, Halve Waste was designed to engage all sectors of the community to reduce waste and increase recycling in the Halve Waste regions and bringing businesses, schools, community groups and residents together to face waste challenges head on to decrease waste to landfill. Halve Waste’s objectives are to

  • Reduce the region’s waste by active recycling
  • Engage and inform the community about waste management
  • Reduce waste to landfill


Our Community Sponsorship Program offers community groups within the Halve Waste region the opportunity to access financial assistance to support events, programs and resources that help achieve the Halve Waste objectives as set out above. The maximum funding per application is $500 although the full amount need not be applied for.

Timetable for community  Grants Program

The Community Sponsorship fund is open each financial year until funds are exhausted.

Applications

  • Applications Open: 1 July
  • Applications Close: June 30 or when funds exhausted
  • Assessment of Applications: Notification of outcome – within 1 month of submission

Grant Acquittal: 6 months after completion of project or as otherwise requested.

To evaluate proposals, Halve Waste only accepts applications on this form. To submit your sponsorship application form, please answer all applicable questions and attach additional pages if necessary.

Halve Waste will consider supporting a range of projects, here are some examples: Purchase of equipment i.e. recycling bins/container to sort waste, compost bins, worm farms, boomerang bags set up costs for screen printing equipment. Green/recycling/sustainability/environment/waste reduction event for community groups.

Note: By submitting this application the applicant community group acknowledges their understanding that Halve Waste may use the information provided to determine eligibility and assess the sponsorship application. Each application will be considered on its own merits.

Project Budget

 

Please provide a detailed budget in spreadsheet format as to how the money is to be spent. Provision of actual quotes is highly recommended if possible.

Make it clear exactly what the project costs are and how they have been calculated or determined. Often the best way to do this is by providing a budget spreadsheet with notes that explain how a cost was determined. It is also valuable to include any in kind or funding that you are providing to the project.

Evaluation of the Sponsorship

Halve Waste will require a written report within a nominated period after the funding of the Sponsorship, including a description of the outcomes achieved. Please also provide from your project any photographs, news clippings or film that Halve Waste can use in promotion of its Community Groups Sponsorship program.

  • All applicable fields of the form must be completed; incomplete applications will not be considered.

  • Halve Waste has the right to use and promote the successful applicants details and any materials/outcomes from the sponsorship at its discretion.

  • Applications can be made at any time but must be received at least 4 weeks prior to the planned event/purchase of equipment.

I confirm that all information provided in or with this application is true and complete. The Applicant Organisation acknowledges that Halve Waste is under no obligation to make a financial contribution even though the Applicant Organisation meets all guidelines and eligibility criteria requirements.

Terms and Conditions

  • All applicable fields of the form must be completed; incomplete applications will not be considered.
  • Halve Waste may promote the successful applicants at its discretion on the Halve Waste website and/or Halve Waste Facebook page.
  • Halve Waste has the right to use and promote the successful applicants details and any materials/outcomes from the sponsorship at its discretion.
  • Applicants must be a community group within the Halve Waste region i.e. Albury City Council, City of Wodonga and the Shires of Indigo, Federation, Greater Hume and Towong.
  • The maximum funding per application is $500 although the full amount need not be applied for.
  • I understand that if Halve Waste approves my application, I will be bound by the contents of my application to carry out my project as I have described and my application will form part of my contractual agreement with Halve Waste.
    • Applications can be made at any time but must be received at least 4 weeks prior to the planned event/purchase of equipment. Applications received after an activity has occurred will not be accepted. From the date of application, applicants should allow 14 days for formal notification of the outcome of the application and a further 30 days after receipt by Halve Waste of the invoiced payment to be made.
  • Funding is not automatic on application.
  • Halve Waste’s funding decisions are final
  • Halve Waste will acknowledge the receipt of all applications by email.
  • Payment will be made by electronic funds transfer in the name of the community group or purchase of the equipment may be made by Halve Waste and to be collected by the community group.
  • If required, applicant must be able to provide the name and contact details of an external referee who knows your community group and would be prepared to support your application.
  • If you do not receive a confirmation of submission email then you should presume that your submission has NOT been submitted.
