HOW TO USE MY BINS

The Halve Waste Education Program provides a unique opportunity to learn what happens to local waste and is FREE to all schools, educational facilities, and community groups within the Halve Waste region. It has been designed to encourage all age groups to reduce waste generation, increase recycling and decrease waste to landfill.

Schools Education Program

Halve Waste offer a range of free waste education opportunities schools and early learning centres. The sessions are designed to educate students about how waste and recycling impact on the environment, and how students can reduce their waste at home and school.

Incursions 

  • Each session is age appropriate and curriculum linked and has a series of follow up resources and worksheets.
  • Sessions conducted at your school by our waste educators.
  • Sessions tailored to individual classes to maximise student engagement and learning.
  • Lessons can be adapted and customised to suit school lesson timetables and learning stages.
  • Available all year (including school holidays).
  • Interactive, fun and practical activities.
 
 

Excursions

A tour of the Albury Waste Management Centre is a fun and insightful way to see first-hand what happens to the waste we generate locally and the associated environmental impacts.

The tour can be incorporated with a waste education session on site to tie in key actions that can be taken to increase waste sustainability at home and at school.

WHERE DOES IT GO?  

Community Groups Education Program

Halve Waste offer residents and community groups the opportunity to access waste education through planned events and presentations.

Topics include: 

  • Waste and Recycling – Being Bin Smart
  • Waste Minimisation
  • Compost Workshops
  • Cloth Nappy Workshops
  • Reusable Products Demonstration/displays


Community groups can also book free waste education talks on request.
