Glass can be recycled many times over without it degrading, so this infinite usage means that no further raw materials need to be used in order to create more.
Bottles and jars are perfect for reuse around the home or office and are 100% recyclable.
Have you ever wondered what happens to your glass bottles and jars after you pop them in your yellow-lidded recycling bin?
When you place your glass bottles and jars in your kerbside recycling wheelie bin, you’re saving both natural resources and landfill space. At your local Material Recovery Facility (MRF), the glass bottles and jars are crushed by machinery, where it is returned back to a sand replacement product. The glass sand are then sent off to a local company for use in civil construction, like roads and footpaths.
Halve Waste was founded by Albury City Council, City of Wodonga, Federation Council and the Shires of Greater Hume and Indigo.
The Halve Waste program implements local solutions to reduce all wastes to landfill by 80% by 2030, which aligns with the State Government targets.
As a region, we all support the goals of Halve Waste and collaborate to achieve these goals.
