Halve Waste is a waste reduction campaign that is an initiative of AlburyCity Council, City of Wodonga and the Shires of Indigo, Federation, Greater Hume and Towong. Launched at Albury Waste Management Centre (AWMC) in June 2010, Halve Waste was designed to engage all sectors of the community to reduce waste and increase recycling in the Halve Waste regions and bringing businesses, schools, community groups and residents together to face waste challenges head on to decrease waste to landfill. Halve Waste’s objectives are to;
Our Schools Sponsorship Program offers schools within the Halve Waste region the opportunity to access financial assistance to support events, programs and resources that help achieve the Halve Waste objectives as set out above. The maximum funding per application is $1000 although the full amount need not be applied for. Please note that schools who apply must have participated in Halve Waste education and/or had a waste assessment by Halve Waste to be considered.
Funding is available each financial year – or until exhausted
Grant Acquittal: 6 months after completion of project or as otherwise requested.
To evaluate proposals, Halve Waste only accepts applications on this form. To submit your sponsorship application form, please answer all applicable questions and attach additional pages if necessary.
Halve Waste will consider supporting a range of projects, here are some examples: Purchase of equipment i.e. recycling bins/container to sort waste, compost bins, worm farms, boomerang bags set up costs for screen printing equipment. Green/recycling/sustainability/environment/waste reduction event for schools.
Note: By submitting this application the applicant school acknowledges their understanding that Halve Waste may use the information provided to determine eligibility and assess the sponsorship application. Each application will be considered on its own merits.
Halve Waste was founded by Albury City Council, City of Wodonga, Federation Council and the Shires of Greater Hume and Indigo.
The Halve Waste program implements local solutions to reduce all wastes to landfill by 80% by 2030, which aligns with the State Government targets.
As a region, we all support the goals of Halve Waste and collaborate to achieve these goals.
