It’s important to set a good example and teach our children how to reduce waste.
The above image shows just how easy you can be to have a waste free lunch box.
Waste free lunches contain only items that are eaten, composted, reused or recycled. Waste-free lunch programs favour the use of reusable food containers, drink containers, utensils, and napkins.
They discourage the use of disposable packaging or wrappers, such as pre-packaged foods, plastic wrap or bags, juice boxes and pouches, paper napkins, and disposable utensils. Instead, all food is provided in reusable food and drink containers, so that there is no packaging to place into the bin and the majority of the waste produced is organic (i.e. food scraps) which can be recycled via school or home compost bins and worm farms.

Halve Waste was founded by Albury City Council, City of Wodonga, Federation Council and the Shires of Greater Hume and Indigo.
The Halve Waste program implements local solutions to reduce all wastes to landfill by 80% by 2030, which aligns with the State Government targets.
As a region, we all support the goals of Halve Waste and collaborate to achieve these goals.
