Keeping food waste out of our red-lidded general waste bin can make a big difference.
Something as simple as emptying spoiled food from its container. We’re pretty good at putting our food waste in the green-lidded organics bin, but it’s the spoiled food we don’t separate from the packaging that has a huge impact on our landfill. Imagine if all of us did this and none of it ended up in landfill?
1. How often does this happen to you?
2. Scrape out the spoiled food from the container.
3. Separate any rotten food from its plastic wrapping.
4. Empty straight into your Kitchen caddy or the green-lidded organics bin.
Halve Waste was founded by Albury City Council, City of Wodonga, Federation Council and the Shires of Greater Hume and Indigo.
The Halve Waste program implements local solutions to reduce all wastes to landfill by 80% by 2030, which aligns with the State Government targets.
As a region, we all support the goals of Halve Waste and collaborate to achieve these goals.
